I make a general practice of getting before giving, in business deals.

Yes, credit cards are excellent protection against bankruptcies.
They're also good because you can withhold payment if the merchandise
if defective.  For this reason alone, you should <NEVER> use a debit
card for merchandise.  (For 'float' reasons you never use one anyway.
Debit cards are entirely in the interest of the vendor, not the purchaser.)
