Yes, credit cards are excellent protection against bankruptcies. They're also good because you can withhold payment if the merchandise if defective. For this reason alone, you should <NEVER> use a debit card for merchandise. (For 'float' reasons you never use one anyway. Debit cards are entirely in the interest of the vendor, not the purchaser.)
