Remember that the Lyons' books were first published within the University of New South Wales for use in their operating systems courses. Following this, they had wide distribution throughout the UNIX community, and in fact, were available in both bound and machine-readable form from UNSW. Only later did Western Electric get (rightfully) nervous, take custody of the publications, and offer them only to source licensed sites, one copy to a site. Subsequent source licenses (V7 onward) contain an explicit clause stating that the licensed materials cannot be presented or used as a basis for any educational course outside of those given internally to employees with a job related need-to-know. -- /Steve Dyer decvax!bbncca!sdyer sdyer@bbncca
