[net.legal] driving law controversy

It is a shame to waste such good libertarian arguments on
a question where their applicability is less clear than
perhaps others. Driving "rights" for some people are
like the right to play Russian roulette with someone else's
head. You can't wait until the loaded chamber goes off
to restrict their behavior.

What about controlled substances even in the privacy of your
own home? What about being forbidden to travel to Cuba?
What about needing a license to grow hops? (Maybe some of
our Washington State friends should look into that one.)
What about not being able to have a Swiss bank account without
telling the feds (even if you pay all your taxes)? What about
not being allowed to own a firearm for your own protection in
some of our more "enlightened" cities?

There are a lot of oppressive laws here in the U.S.A. Railing
against the need for a driver's license just diverts attention
from the true oppression.
