[net.legal] BBS confiscation. Having UNDERGROUND implies guilt.

werner@ut-ngp.UUCP (06/05/84)

Sarcasm intended:

Some foggy-bottom-minds are making guilt-conclusions once again, which
need to be contradicted with an appropriate amount of sarcasm.

If you have not read the recent posting reporting on the result of the
meeting of various BBS-sysops of the LA area, which includes some
insights on how the BBS was operated and what "really" happened,
please make an attempt to do so. But even without this report, how
anyone can conclude that the SYSOPS is guilty of conspiracy because
of the simple fact that he had a group named UNDERGROUND, leaves me
speechless. Such careless conclusions disqualifies the person
from serving on a jury of peers (I hope), because he seems to be unable
to reign in his emotions, and distinguish between "the possibility" and
"the FACT" that a person has committed a deed.

Reminds me how some people act as if all revolutions are a Communist plot,
and never realize their stupidity, not even while celebrating July 4th.
Or (to kick in both directions) those, who believe that the Russian bear
is just another branch of the Teddy-bear-family and great for cuddling.

Moral: skepticism and considering all possibilities is one thing,
	conclusions something else.

	 Sigh"
