(Sure, we don't KNOW they were running away, but can you think of any other reason they would turn their backs on an angry man using a gun?) Even you John Wayne afficianados out there should realize that shooting people in the back is something the Duke wouldn't do. The attitude seems to be: "Well, he just got so excited by shooting the first two that he just felt like shooting the other too as well. Wouldn't you do that too?"
