ASIL (The American Society of International Law) will hold its
annual meeting April 25-27, 1985, at the Roosevelt Hotel in New York.
600-700 practitioners are expected there, along with government officials
from the US and abroad. Some of the issues to be discussed are:
ACID RAIN: US and Canadian responsibilities.
TOXIC SUBSTANCES: Are they being regulated internationally
The UN: Does it reflect international law and legitimate national
policies?
US FOREIGN POLICY: Does international law guide it or rationalize it?
ISRAELI SETTLEMENTS: What is their status?
TERRORISM: Can the UN Charter apply to covert actions and state-
sponsored terrorism in Central America?
COUNTERTRADE: What is its future?
DEBTOR NATIONS: Can they declare bankruptcy?
EXPORT ADMINISTRATION ACT: Should it be extended?
STAR WARS: Can outer space be protected?
