A friend of mine who does not have access to the net asked me to post this. Does anyone know if there are time limits to filing for malpractice? The case took place in New Jersey, and the person was 16 when the doctor did the surgery(muscle), 12 years ago. Any advice would be appreciated. _____________________ HISTORY_____________________________________ Before anyone starts flaming let me add that after the surgery (eye) the parents became very concerned because their child's eyes looked terrible and never healed properly. Also the child's vision got significantly worse. The doctor during one visit actually threw the family out of the office saying they asked too many questions. Luckily the parents learned of a world specialist in muscles. He was horrified at the condition of the eyes. Operated again to try to correct the muscle problem that the original operation was supposed to help, and unexpectedly found a cyst in one eye (which he clearly said was due to poor surgical techniques of the previous operation). The cyst was causing the person to go blind. Luckily it was caught. Now the person has scars that the specialist tried to clean up, but could not completely do. This second doctor felt so bad about the whole situation that he barely charged the family anything for the surgery, and had them come back for several followup visits at no charge.
