Can anyone tell me how shall I explain my case to the judge?
Was I really guilty and What shall I do?

------- ** ------- This is an intersection.

                                    ** means traffic lights and
------- ** ------- "NO TURN" signs.
       | o O| O means buses.
       | O x| o means other cars.
                                    x is my Datsun 210.

In this case, I was not able to see any sign but followed the
bus when the light turned to green. Then, I turned right, and
a cop gave me a ticket for imporper turn (imporper left turn).
I just made a mistake since I was not able to see the NO TRUN
sign. I think the NO TRUN sign should be put in the driver's
right hand side if it is a heavy traffic intersection.
I am nervous and worry about the judge won't understand what I
really mean since I am a foreigner.
Please send mail to me directly.(bocar!twh)
I appreciate any suggestions, and thanks in advance.

Wait a minute, you made a RIGHT turn and the cop gave you a ticket for
an improper left turn ? Try to explain this again and tell us what
kind of NO TURN sign it was ( right or left ) If you really made a left
turn from the 'x' position you have no chance in court and deservedly so !
If you made a right turn then take a drawing like yours ( much bigger though )
to court and explain it to the judge, be calm, polite and don't worry
about what the officer says - question him if his facts don't match yours.
First though try to explain the situation to us again, it's good practice.
With all tickets it's worth practicing your speech to the judge and your
questions for the officer with someone else first, out loud and seriously,
especially if you are not used to talking in front of people.

Well you are probably techically guilty, but the judge may let you off.
If you are nervous about being understood, get a lawyer. A lawyer will
not make you appear more guilty than you would without one.

In addition to seeing a lawyer, I would strongly recommend going to
the place where the incident took place and taking some Polaroid
shots that illustrate the point you made, that the sign prohibiting
turns was not readily visible. Evidence of this kind would go
a long way towards improving your chances, even if you are
technically guilty. The judge can take circumstances like this
into account, *if* you have the evidence.
