That modem sounds like an Anchor, or a clone.  If so, the problem can be solved
in 2 ways - 1) Don't wait 1 second before and after sending the "+++" (that is,
send your data faster) and 2) (preferred) change the command character from "+"
to something not likely to be transmitted at all with the ATS2=xxx command.
