has anyone out there ever heard of the california computer crime law? here's what we have posted at the computer center, and i just want to find out if it's for real: "All usage of UCD computer systems is subject to state law. The California Computer Crime Law, section 502, makes it a felony to access intentionally any computer system or network for the purpose of devising or executing any scheme or artifice to defraud or to extort, or to obtain money, property, or services with false or fraudulent intent, presentations, or promises. It is also a felony to maliciously access, alter, delete, damage, or destroy any computer system, computer network, computer program or data. Penalties include fines up to $5000 and/or imprisonment in the state prison for up to three years or the county jail up to one year." where is this law? the civil code? the penal code? please mail me all responses; i may even be inclined to post a summary. -sam mccall -unix consultant -computer center -university of california, davis -...!ucdavis!deneb!cccsam
