I missed your name in that jumble of forwarding information, but,
Mr. Tech writer/Attorney-for-Motorola, I would be glad collaborate
on an article. I have several topics in mind. We could each make
a preliminary investigation as to what we like best and go from there.

First, there is programmer liability for programs that fail. This
is a fun topic and, consequently has been treated often. Maybe too
often? Second, HACKERS and data security. Third, and the one I like
best at this point, is Duplication of Personal Computer Software.
I have written a couple of very small and superficial articles on that
topic for a newsletter we produce here at the University of Toledo.
We could discuss "shrink-wrap" agreements, mail-in warranty/agreements
and the like regarding when you may and may not duplicate software.
Also, we might propose a theory about whether a distributed processing
scheme using copies of one piece of software constitutes "copying".

Maybe we could start by my sending you (by "snail-mail") copies of
those two articles. Could you send me an address? Then, I'll talk
to a professor here about some sources and get his input and, if you
are interested, you could begin tapping your sources as well. How
are you with the UCC? Also, Louisiana has a statute regarding this
very topic. Anyway... we can discuss this more later.

One last thing. Could you possible tell me how I could NETMAIL to
you directly? That would save the middleman lag and preserve our
privacy.

Thanks
Dave Massey
