[tor.general] housing available now for one person

Basement Apartment available immediately.

The owner of our house is renting out the basement. It is a partly furnished
3-room apartment consisting of a moderately sized living-room and kitchen
with a small bedroom and small bathroom. The kitchen has a stove and fridge,
plenty of cupboard and counter space and a table and chairs. The bathroom
does not have a bath, but it has everything else (shower, toilet, etc).
There is some furniture in the apartment that the owner is willing to give
away (or rent, we'll have to check with him).

Laundry facilities are available in the house, but shared with us. The house
also has a nice garden in the back with patio, and BBQ and big tool shed for
storage of stuff. There is room in the driveway for a few cars, but no indoor
garage.

Our owner is very nice and pretty easy-going. We pay him the rent, he fixes
a few things and in general we have no problems with him.

The house is located close to the Finch subway (Willowdale). It is about
a 10-minute leisurely walk to Finch subway, and 15 mins walk to Sheppard.
Altogether the commute from our house to St-George station takes 35-40 mins.
To commute to York's main campus by TTC would be about the same, and a bit
less for Glendon campus. Shopping is available within walking distance.

The owner is asking $200/month + utilities (<$50/month). The apartment is
about the right size for one person, but it would be much too cramped for two.
Pets are welcome. As the heating is forced air, we would prefer a non-smoker.
The house is warm in the winter and nicely cool in the summer.

The basement has a private entrance, so even though it is in the same house
as us, whoever is in the basement can lead a completely private life. However
if there is some interest on the part of that person, we could work out
some kind of communal cooking arrangement (or whatever).

If you are interested, please contact Sophie Quigley (watmath!saquigley
or 226-9711, 226-9712) or Peter Rowley (utcsri!peterr). If there is no answer,
try again. There should be someone there during the daytime for the next two
weeks.
