(I am posting this for a friend --- please reply directly to her) ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Have you stuck with a fitness program for two years or more in spite of yourself? I am writing a magazine article about women who have overcome any of the following excuses/barriers and have succeeded at maintaining at least a maintenance level (3 times/week) exercise program: 1. "I haven't got the time/energy." 2. "Working out is boring." 3. "There's no real need. I look OK/I'm still young. When the time comes, that I need it, I'll begin then." 4. "Deep-rooted psychological barriers (e.g., based on perpetuating a negative self-image). 5. The on-again/off-again syndrome; inability to persist (binging on exercise, then stopping). If you have some insight and tips about working past these stumbling blocks or any others, please call me: Alina Gildiner 656-8831 or 588-2849 -- Murray S. Mazer
