The UNIX Special Interest Group of the Canadian Information Processing Society (CIPS) is pleased to announce its next meeting: June 20, 1989: Geoffrey McDowell, Four Seasons Hotel The Four Seasons Hotel has recently been in the UNIX news for switching their complete computer operations to a UNIX platform. Mr. McDowell will be talking about why they made that decision and report on progress after a year's efforts. We expect to hear some interesting "war stories". July 18, 1989: Greg Kiessling, Sun Microsystems Mr. Kiessling will be talking about X11/News, their merged graphics offering. There will be a demonstration, hardware TBA. The UNIX SIG is mainly oriented towards people who are new to UNIX. All meetings take place at the Board of Trade, from 6:15 to 7:30 pm. Both members and non-members are welcome.
