[tor.general] Desperately seeking source

Well, our venerable old stove has finally developed enough problems
that we've decided, reluctantly, that it's time to replace it. I've
tried calling various stove-fixing places, all of which have told me
that it can't be fixed, due to its advanced age, lack of spare parts,
obscure (in Canada) brand, etc.

Our now-defunct one had lots of nice features that one usually doesn't
see on kitchen stoves, such as totally separate broiler and oven (you
could bake something on low heat at the same time you're charring the
hell out of something else on the broiler), and stove-top griddle.

The problem is that it's quite a bit wider than most stoves one finds
these days (39.5 inches), and it would be preferable to find one about
the same size, to avoid leaving the odd gap that would result if the
new stove were significantly narrower.

Thus far, I've found only one place that comes even close, with a 36"
model which has to be special ordered. Does anyone know of any place
that carries nonstandard-size kitchen appliances? I expect there are
some establishments that cater to a yuppiesque clientele, and may sell
either refurbished/restored antique stoves, or possibly pseudo-antique
new ones. I just don't know where to find them. (The yellow pages
have been rather unhelpful, I'm afraid.)

One possibility which we've rejected is a restaurant/industrial model,
as these tend to be not as well insulated as home stoves, and therefore
might pose a problem in a household with micropersons toddling around.

We're interested only in a gas model. Any pointers/suggestions? TIA.
