[tor.general] Looking for word processor

pong@hcr.UUCP (Chun Pong Yu) (10/08/89)

A friend of mine is looking for a "word processor" and a NLQ printer.
He doesn't need the full power of a personal computer but wants something
more than a typewriter since he only wants to use it to write articles.
Something that has software that will allow him to do simple typesetting
(eg. use a few fonts like Helvetica and Times Roman, bold and italicized
characters, create footnotes) and do full-screen editing would be sufficient.
The printer, of course, should connect to the processor and be able to handle
the full range of typesetting capabilities of the processor but doesn't
have to be fast.

Another reason for being so specific is that he can't afford much (about
$1300 for both). Do such machines exist? Any pointers/suggestions on
what and where to get one would be greatly appreciated. Please email to me
and I will pass on the info. Thanks in advance.
