[] I think at least some of the 3-D images at Disneyland are done with the aid of a couple of face-to-face parabolic mirrors. If two such mirrors are joined together and the center is cut out of one of them, an object placed near the center of the other mirror will produce a very realistic 3-D image at the cutout region. I have seen this effect demonstrated at Boston Museum of Science, San Francisco Exploratorium, Ontario Science Center et al. A scaled-down version was sold as a novelty for many years, and may still be available. The illusion is quite convincing, provided the optics are clean.
