[tor.general] Microphone for a Sparcstation-1

yap@me.utoronto.ca (Davin Yap) (10/13/89)

Hi all,

For U of T day (our open house), I've been asked to get our sparcstations
to talk (about themselves :-). This entails connecting a microphone
to the back of the machine. Unfortunately, no ordinary microphone will
do, at least not without some help, the 8-pin mini-DIN connector at the
back of a sparcstation is nonstandard in the sense that most microphones
have a 1/4" jack.

While I have some news articles on how to go about building an adapter
(mail me if you would like a copy), I would rather not reinvent the
wheel. If someone out there has managed to connect a microphone to a
sparcstation, and is willing to lend it to us for a few hours, please get
in touch with me as soon as possible.

Thanx much, Davin work: 978-6443 home: 593-5384
