[ba.general] KGO sports caster.

.

On October 23, 1984 at about 8:20 AM, I was
surprised to hear a KGO radio sportscaster state that he
believed that women should stay in the kitchen where they
belonged and be feeding their husbands instead of
complaining that there were no women in the Basketball Hall
of Fame. (This was a NOW group that was making the
complaint.) He was very indignant that these women should
even consider such a subject. I heard the regular
newscaster objecting, but he couldn't get a word in edgewise
while the sports caster was on the air.

I find that this kind of sexist bigotry is
offensive. How about you? Send me mail or post replies,
I'm collecting them all.

I heard that, too. I guess you weren't listening on Oct 24th at about
the same time, when he apologized and said that he had been joking, or
you would have mentioned that in your article.

No I didn't! I'm glad that you posted this. I wanted to
listen for an apology the next day, but I couldn't get to
the radio soon enough. I was flaming mad when I heard it
and am glad to hear that he made right by his blunder.
