[net.rec.disc] endurance

Here's a little something I've been meaning to post for a while. It
comes from the July 14th edition of the Washington Post. Here are the
facts:

A group of students from Prince Georges (Md.) Community College broke the
record for sustained frisbee playing, by surpassing the 1001 hour mark.
It was done to raise money for the national Multiple Sclerosis Society.
They broke the previous record of 1001 hours set in 1978 by the Alhambra
Frisbee Disc Club in California. The students vow to continue until Sept.
4th, the day of the 7th Annual Smithsonian Frisbee Disc Festival.

As far as I know, they are still going at it. An important note in this
is the date of the Smithsonian Frisbee Festival. It is a lot of fun, and
gives you a chance to see all aspects of disc play. Some of the world's
best free-stylers show up, and it is a rush to see close to a thousand
frisbees in the air at once when they have the 'Big Throw'. Try to make it
if you can; I'm going to make sure I get to it for the 6th consecutive
year. See you there...
