I just got some glossy sales literature on a new ink jet printer from Exxon Office Systems, the 965S. After having called the indicated 800 number, I still could not get much technical information out of the marketing people. It apparently has lots of fonts available, but was designed to be used with the "Exxon 500 Series Information Processor", an office automation system. Has anyone seen one of these printers? They claim they are "Unix- based", but didn't know nroff/troff from Adam. The resolution (> 200 dots/in.), multiple fonts, and quiet operation make it a good candidate for a daisy wheel printer replacement. The difficulty is an nroff driving table. If anyone has used one with nroff, please send me mail. I will be glad to summarize replies if there is interest. Prices were quoted as $3300 for a basic four font unit, $4550 for a "scientific" unit (presumably more fonts). --peter gross
