[net.text] How do you use roffbib?

john@mplvax.UUCP (John McInerney) (08/16/84)

I have a rather large bibliographic database that I want to create a
bibliography with. Roffbib seemed to me to be exactly what the doctor
ordered. Its manual page says:

Roffbib prints out all records in a bibliographic database,
	in bibliography format ...

I dutifully, as instructed, ran my bibliographic database through as
follows:

	sortbib database | roffbib

but what comes out still has all of the %A, %R, %I's left in it. Roffbib
is merely a shell script to call refer with -B. The refer manual says:

The input file (or standard input) is copied to standard output,
except for lines between .[ and .] delimiters,...

So, of course, all of the %A, %R, %I's are left in since a bibliographic
database (ala addbib) does not have a .[ or .] in it. How does one use
roffbib to create a bibliography?
