[net.text] .UC manual macro

Can anyone tell me what the '.UC 4' macro at the top of many
manual pages is for? I can't find it documented anywhere...

Simple:  .UC ==> 3rd Berkeley Software Distribution; .UC 4 ==> 4th Berkeley
software distribution. (Without it, 7th Ed.)

It just replaces the info at the bottom of the troff'ed man pages. We
stuck in one for U. of MD.

Look at /usr/lib/tmac/tmac.an.new and you will find it is associated
with the Berkeley distributions of UNIX.

The call .UC 4, will print that the manual page is part of the 4th
Berkeley distribution.
