[net.music] Captain Kirk sings The Beatles + More!

As previously mentioned there is a terrific LP of William Shatner
performing some modern pop. Both "Lucy In the Sky With Diamonds"
and "Mr. Tambourine Man" are treated to Shatner's, ummmmmmmmmm,
interpretation--read as though they were penned by Shakespeare,
with a glitzy disco band and backup singers behind it all. Watch
out! There's also a double-live Shatner album ("The Incredible
Transformed Man", or something like that)!

While we're at it--how about other songs by non-singers? My fave
would have to be Telly Savalas' version of "You've Lost That Lovin'
Feeling" (though Nancy Sinatra's duet with MAJOR talent Lee Hazlewood
runs a close second). Also, on the very same LP (imagine there
being enough room on one 12" record!) hear Telly miss almost every
note when he (sings) "Rubber Bands and Bits of String." I can
just about guarantee you'll be crying by the end.

Maybe I'll sit down and write up a list of some of this stuff. Any
Mrs. Miller fans out there? Anyone else listening to their Shakers
album, "Break It Up"? Great beat-era rock from Uruguay... the accents
are killers.
