[net.text] "extract" for [nt]roff users

req@snow.UUCP (Russell Quin) (05/22/85)

I have posted the source and some documentation for a little shell script
called extract to net.sources.
The script extracts definitions of nroff/troff/roff macros from files, and
knows about the -ms, -mm, -me, man etc libraries so you can say
	extract -ms LP
to look at the -ms definition, or
	extract -ffred LP
to look at the definition of LP in the file fred.

I find it useful for when people come along and say "how can I change the ms
macros to draw a line between paragraphs" or whatever, because I can show them
the macro (or change it myself) very quickly.
I hesitated to post it in case I got deluged with "In troff, how can I...."
questions, but I'm holding my breath....

Enjoy!
