[net.text] Help needed to solve an underline problem on CI-600

We have an underline problem on CI-600 printer, using it with UNIX 4.2bsd.

The menu of field 45 (CR Code) originally installed to 06(as a command
of start printing and carriage return; the paper-feed-code, following it,
will be ignored) underlines as follows;

		xxxxxxxx________xxxxxxxxx
			xxxxxxxx            
                                 

We changed the menu to 05(for use in  'Under Line' printing) as suggested
in the Operations Manual.  Under this menu, it is working if we specify
the number of characters to be underlined.

          EXAMPLE
                       
              400\l'-4\(ul:  underline the previous 4 characters
                            
          
              nroff produces:  ...400^H^H^H^H____...

However, .ul(underline the next line) doesn't underline at all.

          EXAMPLE
              
              .ul
              Underline this line.

              nroff produces:  _^HU_^Hn_^Hd_^He_^Hr_^Hl_^Hi_^Hn_^He_^H.....

 
Please let me know if anyone has solved the problem under the same
environment as above.
