[net.text] Pointers to printers

bossert@persci.UUCP (10/11/85)

I'm looking for a laser printer that will work with troff and give
me access to multiple fonts. I'd also like a troff previewer to
use in conjunction with the printer. We're running 4.2bsd.

We're currently using an Imagen 8/300, but itroff (Imagen troff)
doesn't allow us to access the fonts embedded in ROM. One option
is to use Imagen's language "IMPRESS", but we don't want to tie
ourselves to one vendor.

The Imagen is nice, however, as it provides a pre-viewer we can
use on our Suns. (We use a Sun as a printer server).

If anyone can offer suggestions or pointers, I'd be very grateful.

Yes, what types of previewers for troff are people using these days?
Believe it or not, we're still mostly using the Tektronix 4014...
