[net.misc] Desperately seeking Friedman

darrell@sdcsvax.UUCP (Darrell Long) (03/09/86)

I'm looking for H. George Friedman Jr.'s mailing address. In his
book "Introduction to Compiler Construction with UNIX" says that
machine readable sources are available from him via ARPAnet and
various other networks. Unfortunately, he does not give his net
address.

HELP!

Thanks, DL

Sorry. Net addresses weren't all available when the book went to press.

I'd be pleased to send a copy of the files described in the book to anyone
interested. I think that the two easiest methods are by tape, or by using
"ftp" if it is available to you. You can send a tape to:

Prof. H. George Friedman, Jr.
Computer Science Dept.
University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign
1304 W. Springfield (The Post Office insists on this line)
Urbana, IL 61801

With "ftp", it is easy. If you can login to our machine (uiucdcs),
in the ftp home directory, pub/friedman is a subdirectory, within which
you can copy out files "tar" and "tar.out". File tar is a tar output
file, and tar.out is the listing of what is in file tar.

If you prefer something other than tar format, please let me know.

Please note that the files are copyright (C) 1985 by Prentice-Hall, Inc.,
and by Axel T. Schreiner and myself.
