[net.text] TeX drivers for dumb output devices

agw@garfield.UUCP (01/23/86)

This may sound a bit unusual, but ...

Does anybody have filters that will do any of the following:

(1.) Take a .dvi file, and convert it into a file that can be printed
     on a line-printer-like device.

(2.) Print a .dvi file on an NEC Spinwriter.

If said products are somewhat defective (e.g., they don't process
math mode or display math mode properly), we would be willing to live
with the results. The main idea is that we don't have a laser printer
yet at Fordham University (although one is in the offing), we DO have TeX,
and we would like to be able to print out the results on something
in the meantime. Also, I think that our local powers-that-be would prefer
that people do their rougher drafts on devices other than a laser printer,
reserving the latter for final drafts.

Thank you very much.
