[net.text] vector notation in TeX

ar@duke.UUCP (07/16/86)

Being a degenerate mathematician , I like to denote vectors by writing
the arrow *under* the variable. Underlining is unacceptable as (1) underlines
of succesive variable run together and (2) different notations are needed
for vectors,matrices,.... Clearly, the LaTeX \vector command puts it above.
Using the \stackrel (\mathrel and its friends for TeX people) command
won't do as it makes the thing put on top "subscript-sized".

Does anyone have a nifty macro do this or suggestions as
to how to create one without breaking all my equations.

Thanks in Advance
