[net.text] some troff/graphics questions

Here are some questions for those of you who are expert troff users.

1. Is there a conversion program in existence that converts postscript to
troff? If so, will this handle graphics as well as text.

2. Are there any picture drawing programs other than pic whose output can be
directly merged into a troff file? Indirectly (say, via postscript)?

3. Is there a scanner that can digitize images and send the data to a VAX to
be merged with a troff document?

I'm trying to graphically enhance our troff publishing system, and one way
that seems possible is to use a postscript-compatible drawer and a
scanner like the Microtek MS-300A. Files could then be created in postscript,
converted to troff, and merged with .so or something. Am I on the right track,
or am I missing something? Maybe I don't even need postscript, eh?
