[att.general] Information Wanted

wbpesch@ihuxp.UUCP (Walt Pesch) (02/08/84)

I am looking for information in regards to the Reduced Instruction Set
Computer (RISC) Theory for an upcoming term paper for a graduate
class. The RISC theory was developed a couple of years ago at Berkely
and says that since only 20% of the instruction set of a normal
computer is used for completeing 80% percent of the operations, it
would be more efficient to just use that 20% in a super-souped up
hardware environment. Therefor, a supposedly quicker running machine.
I have also heard rumors that a machine of this type has been
commercially produced within the last year.

What I would like is that anyone who could give me any more
information, either personal knowlege or references to papers and/or
experts in the field, would contact me. I would like to have heard
from you hopefully by the 24 of Febuary, for I hope to have an outline
done by then, but if anyone comes into contact with any information on
this field, I would appreciate their contacting me. Also available to
anyone that contacts me is a copy of the finished version of my paper
if they so wish. Thank You.
