The 21st season of the Peter Britt Music Festival is underway.  Performances
are held in a natural amphitheater in Jacksonville, Oregon (west of Medford).
There are three parts to the festival:

	o Blue Grass and Country Music (already over; sorry)
	o Classical Festival (Aug. 5 through Aug. 20)
	o Jazz Festival (Aug. 26 & 27)

The program for the Jazz Festival hasn't been finalized yet.  Here are the
programs for the Classical Festival:

	Rossini - Barber of Seville Overture
	Stravinsky - Pulcinella Suite
	Dvorak - 8th Symphony (G)

PROGRAM II - Aug. 6 & 12 8:30 PM
	Mozart - 22nd Symphony (C)
	Tchaikovsky - 1st Piano Concerto (Bb), with Santiago Rodriguez
	Brahms/Dvorak - Hungarian Dances 17--21
	Copland - Suite: The Tender Land

PROGRAM III - Aug. 7 & 8 8:30 PM
	Weill - Seven Deadly Sins
	Gershwin - Porgy and Bess

	Telemann - Overture in D for 2 Oboes and 2 Horns
	Prokofiev - 3rd Piano Concerto (C), with Robert Taub
	Beethoven - 4th Symphony (Bb)

Baroque Brunch (Special Event) Aug. 14 & 17 11:30 AM
	Telemann - Overture in D ...
	Hertel - Concerto in D for 2 Trumpets, 2 Oboes, and 2 Bassoons
	Bach - 4th Brandenburg Concerto

PROGRAM V - Aug. 15 & 15 8:30 PM - James DePreist, Guest Conductor
	Mozart - 40th Symphony (g)
	Brahms - 2nd Symphony (D)

Special Event (Aug.16 8:30 PM), featuring
	Robert Taub, piano
	Britt Brass Quintet
	Britt Wind Ensemble
	Britt String Quartet

PROGRAM VI - Aug. 18 & 20 8:30 PM
	Haydn - Symfonia Concertante (Op. 84a) for Oboe, Bassoon, Violin,
		and Cello (soloists to be announced)
	Nielsen - 4th Symphony (The Inextinguishable)

Open Rehearsals - Aug. 3, 10, 17 8PM

The orchestra consists of ~70 professional musicians from all over the country.
John Trudeau is Music Director and Conductor.


The popular thing to do is to come a couple of hours ahead of time with a
picnic dinner.  While you're there, you'll probably want to see a play or
two at the Ashland Shakespearean Theatre - just 20 minutes away.  Crater Lake
National Park is only about an hour away.

If you're still trying to decide what to do on your summer vacation, this
festival is just the thing!
