Manage a small staff to identify and obtain software tools required by
all Tektronix software product developers. These tools will include
those required for analysis, design, development, testing,
documentation, archiving, manufacturing, and project management. This
staff will work closely with software engineers, project leaders, and
managers to identify and satisfy their immediate and long range tools
requirements. Tools will not be developed by this staff. They will
be obtained from sources both inside and outside of Tektronix,
evaluated for quality and fit to requirements and coordinated with
other tools. The objective is to assist Tektronix reach
state-of-the-art in software development tools while standardizing, as
much as possible, on a uniform, integrated set of tools.
Good understanding of the software development process, including both
administrative and technical aspects. Good communication skills, with
emphasis on ability to listen. Positive attitude with ability to
create enthusiasm with staff, peers, and users. Well organized with
ability to coordinate several activities simultaneously and meet
commitments. Creative ability to develop and implement detailed plans
from loosely defined user requirements and specific long range
department goals. Good judgement with ability to keep long range
goals, short range needs, Tektronix profits, employee needs, and
department budget in perspective. Ability to work well with all
levels of engineers and managers.
