[or.general] Pascal meeting

robertd@tektronix.UUCP (Bob Dietrich) (08/06/83)

The October 4 to 7, 1983 meeting of the Joint ANSI/X3J9-IEEE Pascal Committee
will be held near Portland, Oregon at the Rippling River Resort in
Welches, Oregon.

Twenty (20) deluxe queen suites (with refrigerator and wet bar) at $53.10
per night and twenty (20) standard queen suites at $51.30 have been
reserved for "JPC" or "Joint Pascal Committee". There is a 6% room tax
added to all lodging. The rooms will only be held until September 3.
Those who made condominium arrangements at the last meeting should be
sure to confirm your reservations. To make reservations, call or write:

       Rippling River Resort Reservation phones:
       6810 E. Fairway Avenue From Portland: 224-7158

The resort is about 50 minutes from the Portland airport, so I would
recommend renting a car. This will also enable you to see the sights and
get to the restaurants more easily. If you have a few extra hours, I
would suggest taking the long way around Mt. Hood via the Columbia Gorge
and Hood River. Limousine service is available for $15.00 each
way. Call in advance to Airline Escort Service, (503) 239-8393 or
(503) 255-0325.

To get to Rippling River from the Portland Airport, follow the signs for
I-205. Take I-205 south (toward Salem) to I-84. Take I-84 eastbound to
the Wood Village - Gresham exit, and turn south (right) onto 238th Avenue.
Go south on 238th to the fifth (5th) traffic light (approximately 3 miles)
and turn left onto Burnside. There is a Shell gas station on the corner.
Burnside becomes US Highway 26. Stay on US 26 for 25 miles, all the way
through Sandy, to Wemme and the first stoplight after Sandy. Turn right
onto Welches Road and go one mile to Rippling River.

Copying may be time consuming or expensive, so it would be best if you
either bring copies with you, or send the material ahead of time to Bob.
One or more computers will be available for document preparation.

Rippling River is located on the beautiful green slopes of Mt. Hood,
next to the Salmon River. To keep things green, Oregon has an arrangement
for water to fall out of the sky every so often. There is a 50-50 chance
that the first week of October will be rainy or Indian summer, so bring
a coat. When it isn't raining (or even if it is), the resort offers a
27 hole golf course, tennis courts, pools and jacuzzis (indoor and
outdoor), a sauna, exercise room, bicycling, hiking, and fishing.
Unfortunately for skiers, the slopes will be undergoing maintenance for
winter.

If you have any questions, please call me at (503) 629-1727.

                                              Sincerely,
                                              Bob Dietrich
