As a newcomer to Oregon, I was quickly told about skiing around Crater
Lake. Some have even described it as the ``ne plus ultra of'' of North
American ski tours. However, it seems as if no one I know has actual
first-hand experience with the entire trip.
So I am looking for some information regarding various aspects of the tour:
What are the current snow conditions like?
Just how difficult is the terrain? (From the topo's it looks easy to
moderate, but some say otherwise.)
What about avalanche hazards? If so, is the snow light enough to make some
Pieps beacons useful?
What NPS requirements would I have to comply with?
Would a sled be usable on the terrain?
Also, any general information regard this trip or others would be greatly
appreciated.
Thanks,
Jeff Staley
