[or.general] SIGMOD '89 Research Products/Prototypes Exhibit

len@psu-cs.UUCP (Leonard Shapiro) (01/08/89)

Hard copies of the following, along with related materials, are being
mailed to former participants in the SIGMOD research exhibits program and
other interested parties:

We invite participants in the exhibition of Research Proto-
types and Products (RP/P) at SIGMOD '89, the ACM Conference
on the Management of Data, to be held in Portland, Oregon
May 31 - June 2, 1989. The 1989 RP/P exhibit will have the
theme of "User Interfaces to Database Systems", although we
welcome any research prototype or product which has some-
thing new and significant to offer the SIGMOD community.

The RP/P exhibit will be open from 9AM Thursday June 1 to
noon on Friday June 2. The RP/P exhibit space will be
available for setup by 2PM Wednesday May 31. We expect the
organization of the RP/P exhibit will be similar to what
Mike Carey did at SIGMOD '88. However, we expect to allo-
cate significantly more space this year to the RP/P exhibit,
so that in addition to the scheduled 30 minute presentations
we hope to have unlimited unstructured demos for those who
bring their own hardware. This will depend mainly on the
number of applicants.

To register for participation in the RP/P exhibit, please
fill out the following registration form. If you have any
questions regarding the RP/P exhibit please contact us at
one of these addresses or phone numbers below. We request
that you attach a short description of your
product/prototype. In case of space constraints we will use
these statements to select participants.

Deadline for registration for this exhibit is February 15,
1989 if you want to be listed on the program. However, we
will try to accommodate even last-minute entries to the RP/P
exhibit.
