[ne.general] BOSTON employer database update

narod@cfashap.harvard.edu (Joel Narod) (01/08/91)

In August, I contributed to several threads in *.JOBS news groups about
techniques for marketing computer skills. REPLYers expressed much interest in
the computer catalog I use for identifying potential clients. In short -

>>>>>>>>>>>>
.... from Boston Sunday Globe advertisements placed by 1600+ companies seeking
computer skilled professionals, I've cataloged the presence of 110+ skill
phrases. These phrases include C, Unix, windows, Sun, VAX/VMS, tcp/ip, sql,
pascal, Macintosh, MSDOS, fortran, graphics, cobol, databases, marketing,
technical writing, medical, health, training, manufacturing and many more.

..... My computer can search the catalog and list each company whose
advertisements have mentioned, for example, the skill phrase mix of:

C and UNIX and (REAL_TIME_PROCESSING or ORACLE or INGRES)

..... The 4+ year catalog excludes personnel agents and recruiters. It
permits specialized searches on zip codes, dates and company names.
>>>>>>>>>>>>

REPLYers asked for additional catalog features and wanted to buy reports
listing firms matching their own skill mix. I have added the requested
features and can now sell these reports as a service.

Please contact me if such reports would be helpful to you or someone you know.
Since additional details about this service are incompatible with the news
group posting guidelines, please contact me by other means. Thanks for your
interest.
