The last word was that the government was looking into the legality of the discount "ad" stamps (advertising labels with postage stamps on them to be sold at less than the face value of the stamps). Because of all of this trouble, the company has decided to pursue a different direction. Instead of a sticker to place on an envolope, people will be able to buy entire envelopes with the advertising printed on them. A stamp will be affixed to each envelope, and the cost of the entire item will be less than the cost of the stamp (I believe that the cost is still set at $0.17). This idea also has to undergo investigation, but less trouble is expected. My idea is to manufacture stickers that do not have any advertising on them. These stickers would have the upper right corner removed, leaving a space large enough to fit a regular issue size postage stamp. These would also be available with slogans like "CENSORED" or "SPACE FOR RENT" or "BABY ON BOARD". (Copyright 1986 by David C. Elliott. All Rights Reserved) David
