An attempt was made to make Anakin = ana + kin, ana being defined as "reverse" or "backwards". The meaning is closer to "on top of" or "again". Thus, "Anabaptists" were people who got baptised again, and the "Anabasis" is Xenophon's account of his journey returning "Upcountry". However, I don't have a Greek dictionary here. I also don't have a concordance, but the "Anakim", who were descendants of Anak, are mentioned in Genesis or Exodus somewhere. I think they were a Canaanite group, but it escapes my memory.
