My understanding of what was said in RotJ and in the book of RotJ was that Luke and Leia are twins. They have the same mother and their father is Vader. Vader left their mother before he knew that she was pregnant and so never knew that he had any children (seems that I've heard that one before... maybe ST II??). Luke and Leia's mother died shortly after childbirth and Ben Kenobi then took Luke to live with his Uncle and Aunt on Tatooine (sp?) and took Leia to be raised by the Royal Family of Alderan. except in STII, Kirk DID know he had a son named David, he just hadn't ever seen him. Don't you remember when everyone goes deeper into the Genesis Cave and Kirk and Carol are alone (except for Checov who's out of it), Kirk says "I did what you wanted, I stayed away. Why didn't you tell him?" He could stay away from his son, but he wishes Carol had at least told David who his father was. -ka
