From: Ron Natalie <ron@brl-bmd> Of course the ROTJ and ESB books aren't really great. Books of this type almost never measure up (like Blish's rehashed Star Trek Episodes?). The original Star Wars book was pretty good. It had a bit about Luke's friends going off to become pilots. I believe Biggs was one of them. The NPR Star Wars radio show was also pretty good about including stuff from the book to fill out some of stuff glossed over in the movie. I remember that I originally went to see a pre-Star Wars George Lucas with reservation (the deciding factor was there was the Star Trek bloopers real on the program too). Once there we fell in love with the film clips he brought with him (including the scene where R2D2 gets zapped by the Jawas and falls over and one of the tie figher exploading). The book was available, so I read and convinced other to do so, and so we were all waiting in line for the movie when it was released. I've got a few questions about the movie that have nothing to do with the plot. Why was it that a famous actor like James Earl Jones (also famous for the voice of "A mind is a terrible thing to waste") did not get a credit for the voice of Darth Vader in either of the two earlier movies. It seems that in this area (Baltimore/Washington) that Star Wars opened at some of our larger grand theatres (like the UPTOWN, complete with balcony and one of the original slatted PANAVISION screens), but the later movies opened at mostly chain theatres (T.V. in a tunnel type) things like General and UA? -Ron

Due to the request, I will post the responses that I have received to my question of a few days back. The Star Wars movie was originally called _A New Hope_ and was the fourth of nine chapters in the Star Wars saga as written by George Lucas. The fifth and sixth chapters were subsequently released as films (_The Empire Strikes Back_ and _Return of the Jedi_) but none of the other stories have yet seen release neither in print nor on celluloid. Too bad. Many thanks to all those who took time out to respond. -- Robert A. Novo "Captain! They put creatures AT&T Bell Labs in our ears!
