[net.micro.cbm] C64 LOGO

ech@pyuxll.UUCP (11/09/83)

I'm looking for a pc that will run LOGO -- a precocious 4 year old and
a mathophobic 33 year old in the house (and me, of course!) want to
play some constructive games. Terrapin had some good news: they wrote
one for the C64 and Commodore is marketing it. A call to Commodore
confirmed that it OUGHT to be distributed widely at this point, and
carries a $59.95 list price. Haven't seen a copy yet, tho.

On the face of it, it sounds like the C64 and LOGO were made for each other.
The customer service rep at cbm said that it exploits the considerable
graphics capabilities of the C64, including the sprites, and includes
the music compiler, also a C64 strong point. I have some confidence
in these statements: Terrapin, along with Krell, are the only commercial
outfits that seem to keep in close touch with MIT. (BTW, Krell claims
to have a LOGO planned for the C64 "in about a year"...competition
couldn't hurt.

Has anybody used, or for that matter seen, this package?

I saw LOGO for the C64 at Von's Computers in West Lafayette, IN
(aka Purdue). Von's is in a building next to Von's Bookstore
and if you really wanted to get a copy, you might call them up.
I have not seen LOGO at Target, K-Mart, Service Merchandise,
et al., but I think that I have also seen LOGO at AVC Computer
store in Indy. It's available, but not widely. I don't think
that retailers know what LOGO is, so they don't order it.
I wish SIMON'S BASIC was as available. I have a review of this
comparing it to Apple LOGO if anyone is interested.
