My father-in-law bought one of the c-64s when they first came out and it had the display problem present in the early machines. Unfortunately, he did not take it back for exchange at the time. Does anybody have any idea what the problem was and if it is owner correctable? With respect to ordering simon's basic, I have gotten one lead on a mail order store from which I should be able to order it. If the lead comes through, I'll post the information to the net. -- Tim Curry USENET: decvax!ucf-cs!tim ARPANET: tim.ucf-cs@rand-relay

I've gotten my old 64 to look half way decent by putting a 200 ohm resistor between the video and luninense pins on the DIN connector. I improved it even furthur by using a monitor. The old 64's had a completely different video modulator, and you can't do much with it. You might try CAREFULLY tweeking the inductors with a non- metalic tuning tool to minimize the herringbone pattern. If you do this, be sure you are listening to the sound, to minimize the background hum too. Jeff Porter (inuxd!porter) AT&T Consumer Products Indianapolis
