Yes folks its true. Here's another
difference between v1 and v2 C64s.
When a v1 powers up it sets a bit in
the D000's somewhere (i can dig it up
again when i get a chance) that
apparantly enables collision detection
between sprites. This memory location
is one of the VIC II chip's control
registers. If the right bit isin't set
then sprites can bang into each other
all day and nobody knows. Well, needless
to say v2s dont have this set when they
are powered on. I found this out the
hard way when I brought my new game home
and found out I could'nt die because
no matter what hit me, I just smiled and
kept on going. Racked up a pretty high
score, but wasn't much of a challenge.
I was however offered an updated disk
from Victory Software (they did the
program) and highly recommend them as
an outfit that will try pretty hard to please
their customers. Besides explaining
the above to me, they offered a work
around so I could use the present disk.

If anyone really cares what it is drop
me a line.

And you thougt it was only blank screens,
