[net.micro.cbm] protecting software -- dongles

bet@ecsvax.UUCP (05/08/84)

A recent message mentioned that a good, hard-to-copy dongle would need
to be more complicated than a simple resistor or two, with some logic
inside that responds to a prompt from the computer. Also, its was mentioned
that the more complicated the logic, the harder to "decipher". There has
been a discussion recently in net.ai about the general problem of figuring
out what is on the inside of a box, based only on looking at the inputs and
outputs, which is complicated by the possibility of internal memory.
