A recent message mentioned that a good, hard-to-copy dongle would need to be more complicated than a simple resistor or two, with some logic inside that responds to a prompt from the computer. Also, its was mentioned that the more complicated the logic, the harder to "decipher". There has been a discussion recently in net.ai about the general problem of figuring out what is on the inside of a box, based only on looking at the inputs and outputs, which is complicated by the possibility of internal memory.
