Some time ago I installed a momentary make push button across terminals 1 and 3 on the user port. No additional circuitry was used. The reset method worked very well for a while and saved me from several devastating crashes. A few months later the computer went south. It didn't even wave good-bye. The screen just filled up with random characters and the keyboard refused to be recognized. Power supply voltages all checked OK. I strongly suspect my reset modification had something to do with the trip. Being the technically inquisitive type, I did exactly what any self respecting engineer would do- I mailed it back to the factory for repairs. Commodore in turn did exactly what any cash conscious company would do- they junked my computer and sent me a new one. I would now like to reconnect my reset button but a still small voice deep inside me whispers "Ya gotta leak in yer sun roof, Bunky?" Question: Has anyone figured out how to SAFELY arrange a system reset without recycling the power or resorting to obsene gestures. Please post to the net as I'm sure there are others like me. There are, aren't there.....?
