[net.micro.cbm] Is there a market for a VT100 emulator?

Pardon me for posting this reply... but I couldn't get mail through.

I personally don't hink there would be much of a call for a vt100 emulator for
the '64... but maybe for the b128 if it ever comes out. ALL current commodore
computers have a 40 column screen format... which is awkward when talking
to nearly all professional services. Yes, over two million '64s are out
there... but I think few of these are owned by computing professionals, and
even fewer use their '64s professionally.
There is a program on the market which does do a VT52 emulation with the '64.
The program is called VIP TERM. It includes software driven 64, 80, and 102
column screen routines. The 80 column is useable, but would be painfull
to work with for long periods. Check this program out before you commit to
writing one; if you can beat it for less money ($50) you might have a chance.
Don't forget, the '64 sells for less than $200... expensive software is
difficult to sell.
