Hi, I am looking for a C compiler for the C64. A former Commodore programmer told me one will become available soon at $49.95 from a small company in Pennsylvania. Do other C compilers exist? If so, how good are they and what do they cost? If there is enough interest, I will summarize responses to the net. David Yates A.T.&T. Information Systems Holmdel, NJ (hou5d!dty)

I have heard alot of requests for a C compiler for the Commodore 64. The only response was a very weak endorsement for one product. I represent a group of people who are interested in writing a Commodore 64 C compiler. But before we dive into this, we need to know if there is really a market out there. The specs are being drawn up now, the main points being: 1. K & R compatability. 2. Disk drive required. 3. Some sort of editor, but probably NOT like any of the current UNIX editors. 4. Tape will be supported as an I/O device, but will not be used in the compilation process. 5. Support for 80 column boards. 6. Support for bank-switched memory. 7. Access to ROM kernal routines. 8. Price range around $50-$75. I would like to hear from anyone who would be interested in such a compiler, and their sugestions on what should or shouldn't be included in it. I will keep the group posted as to the progress of the project. US Mail enquires may be sent to: D. W. Lowrey Starbound Computing P.O.
