I have an Epson MX80 and a Cardco/G printer interface. Cardco says that it emulates the the Commodore 1525 graphic printer and will work with most software in the graphics mode. I have not found this to be the case. For one example, I have tried to print from the Music Construction Set with no success. I have tried to preset the interface/ printer to graphics before loading the Music program etc. without any results. Any ideas ??????? Thanks R. C. Fitch

I have heard a rumor that although the CARDCO interface (I assume you are using the G, not the B) prints Commodore graphics, it does not print them exactly as a 1525 would. Consequently some programs which build symbols out of adjacent graphics don't produce correctly appearing output. I can't vouch for this statement, never having tried the CARDCO, but the rumor is sufficiently pervasive that I selected another brand, which I will report on when I have done some tests. -- ______ Russ Herman / \ {allegra,ihnp4,linus,decvax}!utzoo!aesat!rwh @( ? ? )@ ( || ) The opinions above are strictly personal, and ( \__/ ) do not reflect those of my employer (or even \____/ possibly myself an hour from now.)

[Aren't you hungry...?] I am told by a friend who has a C64 that with his Gemini printer and the cardco interface he has been able to print out the Music Construction Set stuff. He indicates that it takers an excruciatingly long time, and that perhaps the epson will work if you give it long enough... Jon Shapiro Haverford College

Re: CardCo /+G printer interface with Epson MX80 printer I have this combination too. The problem is that you MUST have Graftrax+ for the CardCo to work. The people at CardCo will not tell you this. They will vow and declare that you only need the old Graftrax. They either don't know what they are talking about or they are lying. I had the same trouble with Music Construction Set. Then I went out and got the Graftrax+ ROMS, and the printer works -- sort of. Be warned, whenever it prints a graphics character of any kind, the head of the printer shuttles back and forth. It takes >minutes< to print a single line. This is just the way the CardCo interface works.
